Some paper has points
of interest that cannot be

covered by paint.

through windows and concave
discs of glass.

There is much to see
in the studio:

shells and green bottles,
doll heads

and flash from a tattoo
studio planned

but never opened.
The future escapes old calendars,

so much designed, so little
brought to fruition.

Some days settle
in meaningful shapes,

some just puddle up.

Glen Armstrong (he/him) holds an MFA in English from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and edits a poetry journal called Cruel Garters. His poems have appeared in Conduit, Poetry Northwest, and Another Chicago Magazine.
